Adult Christian Education » FALL 2019 Classes

Classes start Sunday, September 8, and continue through November 2019.

All About the New Testament

The class will deal with background, composition, and theology of the New Testament. Time will be devoted to some of the manners and customs within the 1st century of Israel and the broader Roman Empire.

Ethics — A Life Application Study

Man’s ways? Or God’s ways? Do we serve a personal God who is interested in our wellbeing? Of course! Do we listen and pay attention to His lessons in our daily walk with Him? Are our daily ethics always absolute? Or does the “situation” sometimes rightfully affect how we respond? Did we establish this ethic? Or is it rightfully supported by scripture? What have we learned from those lessons? Do we miss out on His marvelous lessons simply because we are too busy to pay attention? Or worse, because we thought we “did it on our own.” Join us as we explore these questions.

I Don’t Have Enough Faith to be an Atheist

(continued from Spring 2019)

This is a continuation of the Spring 2019 “I Don’t Have Enough Faith to be an Atheist” class in which we looked at 1) Does Truth Exist? 2) Does God Exist? and 3) Are Miracles Possible?
In part 2 this fall, we will look at 4) Is the New Testament Reliable and conclude with 5) Did Jesus prove He is the Son of God by rising from the dead? In addition, we will cover topics like how we got the Bible, and discuss how to answer objections to Christianity like 1) Is Jesus a copycat? 2) Are there missing gospels and others. You can take part 2 without having taken part 1 of this class.

Intentional: Putting Ideas to Action on our Journey with Jesus [Women’s Class]

Come and be encouraged this fall as we look at how to do what is really important in our lives. We will focus on how to implement an effective Bible study and prayer time as well as create a daily habit of praise and godly thinking. From there, we will explore how to be intentional in evangelism and in the relationships the Lord has given to us. Single, married, young, old — it doesn’t matter. Women, this class is just for you, and we’re going to have a great time!

Lessons from Proverbs

Although the book of Proverbs has only 31 chapters, those chapters include over 800 proverbs. This study will not be a verse by verse study. Instead, we will select specific proverbs and connect them to other scripture to find the correct application for our personal use and application. Much of this study will be discussion-based.

Summer Flock Gathering #5 » 8.21.19

If you’re looking to get connected and build relationsheeps (relationships) with our church family, we invite you out for our summer flock season. This is a time for us to connect with each other over food and share some spiritual conversations and disciplesheep (discipleship). The best part is that it’s open to everyone of all ages, sheeps (shapes), and sizes.

So don’t be sheepish this summer — come on out for flocks instead. And while we’re not over here “counting sheep,” this is the last flock meeting left; and you’ll want to make time for this! Days, times, and locations vary, so give us a call, drop us an email, or contact your church elder!

Men with a Mission & Women with Purpose » Orientations 8.19-20.19

Men with a Mission » Scripture is clear about the importance of training up faithful men. We offer a men’s discipleship class focused on strengthening the faith through Bible study, Scripture memorization, and accountability. Many men have benefitted from this training from all around the world. If you are over 18, and this is something you might be interested in, join us for orientation, Monday, August 19, 7 pm.

Women with a Purpose » We are called in Scripture to be well equipped, and ready to defend the gospel of Christ. Women with a Purpose is a program that offers a scriptural, academic learning plan for women who desire to sharpen their skills and Bible knowledge. If you are interested in learning more about the program, join us Tuesday, August 20, 7 pm.

Camp Echoing Hills

Imagine never being able to meet your fullest potential because society isn’t ready to accept you with what it views as your limitations.

Sounds amazing, doesn’t it?

The sad truth is that in reality, this is how most people with special needs are viewed. God sees a lot more for these individuals however, and He loves the people that society doesn’t value because of their handicaps.

At Camp Echoing Hills in Ohio, people with special needs are normal, capable, and valuable. They get to do things that they can never do anywhere else. And more importantly, they get to see the love of God in action through the love, care, and service that volunteers bring.

But you know what’s really interesting? Through the daily interactions, volunteers end up learning more about God than they expected, and we come back with a deeper love for God and others.

Our church will be sending a group of people to serve June 29–July 5, 2019, and we would appreciate your prayers and support.

For those interested in volunteering, the only requirements are an active Tetanus vaccine, a TB test completed within the past year, and a servant’s heart! Children under age 14 must be accompanied by a parent. If that describes you, please contact the church office to let us know!

About Camp Echoing Hills*

For over 50 years, Echoing Hills has supported thousands of families, friends and neighbors through our outreach to people with disabilities. We believe in creating opportunities for individuals with disabilities and assisting them in reaching their fullest potential. Our journey began with Cordell Brown’s dream of serving people like himself, with only $300 and a handful of friends who believed, Echoing Hills became a reality. From that humble beginning and two rustic cabins in rural Ohio, we now serve individuals with disabilities all over the state of Ohio and internationally with camping, travel, residential and healthcare and adult services. Our services all support our beliefs that all individuals can live purposeful lives with dignity and respect.
